1. Gabriel Angel is given the mandate to deliver the revelation, bringing down clues to the apostle that was delivered to the people. Allah Ta'ala says,"And indeed he (Muhammad) had seen him (Gabriel) in a bright horizon" (Surat at Takwiir: 23)Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said,"I
saw him (Gabriel) descend from the sky, his huge body covered the sky
to the earth" (Narrated by Muslim no. 177, of 'Aisha radi' anha)Abdullah
bin Mas'ud radi 'anhu explained that the Prophet sallallaahu' alaihi wa
sallam saw Gabriel had six hundred wings (Narrated by al-Bukhari no.
4857)
2. Mika-il He
was entrusted with the task of organizing the rain and the plants where
all the good luck in the world is closely related to both. There is mention of Gabriel and Mika-il simultaneously in one verse, Allah Ta'ala says,"Whoever
becomes the enemy of Allah, His angels, His messengers, and Gabriel and
Mika-il, Allah is an enemy to unbelievers" (Surah Al-Baqarah: 98)
3. Israfil He was entrusted with the task of blowing the trumpets on the orders of his Lord three times the gusts. The first shock is a hoot, hoot hoot second is death and the third is a hoot hoot resurrection
.4. Malik He is the guardian of hell. Allah Ta'ala says,"They cried out, 'O Malik, let your Lord just kill us'. He replied, 'You will stay (in Hell). " Verily We have brought the truth to you but most of you hate the truth "(Surah Az Zukruf: 77-78)
5. Ridhwan He is the keeper of Heaven. There are some hadith which clearly states he (al Bidaayah wan Nihaayah I/45)
6 & 7. Munkar and Nakir There is mention of them in the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah radi 'anhu, the Prophet sallallaahu' alaihi wa sallam said,"When
the dead had been buried, there came to him two blue-black angels, one
of the two is called Munkar and the other called Nakir" (Narrated by at
Tirmidhi, dihasankan by Shaykh al-Albani in Shahiih at Sunan Tirmidhi
no. 856)
8. 'Izra-il naming the angel of death is not clearly stated in the Qur'an and hadiths are authentic. As for naming him the 'Azrael contained in most atsar. Allaah knows best. (Al Bidaayah wan Nihaayah I/42)
9 & 10. Raqib and 'Atid Some scholars have stated that there are angels among benama Raqib and 'Atid. Allah Ta'ala says,"Maa
min qaulin illaa yalfizhu ladayhi raqiibun 'atiidun" which means "Not a
word was spoken but there is a nearby angel supervisor is always
present" (Surah Qaf: 18)
